About Lessons

I offer weekly, individually planned face-to-face lessons.

An online (Teams) lesson is acceptable only if your internet connection is stable and reliable.

Please ask about availability if you would like a class on a fortnightly or irregular basis.

If you have had experience learning Japanese, please let me check your current level.

From 2024, no new GCSE and A-Level courses will be available.

 Courses

  • Conversation Course

Suitable for those who want to improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills and learn about Japanese culture.

Learn greetings, useful phrases, and conversational grammar. I encourage students to learn the Japanese phonetic syllables (hiragana and katakana).

Recommended textbooks: Marugoto A1 , A2, B1 or Irodori A1 ＆ A2

It is possible to take the JLPT during a conversation course, but you will need to memorise the grammar, kanji, and vocabulary covered in the exam and familiarise yourself with the test format. I recommend focusing on self-study using apps and workbooks, then asking your teacher about any grammar points that remain unclear.

  • JLPT Exam Course

Suitable course for those aiming to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

Learn grammar and improve listening and reading skills through written texts. You also learn how to read and write Kanji.

The JLPT doesn’t include speaking or writing sections, so this course isn’t focused on conversation like the conversation course is.

  • Intensive Course

Learn or review Japanese quickly for business, travel, or other purposes.
